How will your Levitt AMP [Your City] Music Series reflect the essence of the Levitt AMP Grant Awards?

Our goals are to create a concert series in 2017 that will build on the two previous series by providing a mix of entertainment that is attractive to all city residents and visitors in a beautiful underused historical space right behind the State Capital. We want the community to take ownership of this series and help us promote it. Elevate the musical arts by expanding the mix of cultural offerings and provide opportunities for professional musicians and feature local opening acts. Attract new visitors and convert them into customers that will patronize our historic attractions and business establishments and come back again for another concert. Overall by producing a series that will bring new attention to our Capital city as an attractive place to live, work and play.

How will your town or city benefit from the Levitt AMP [Your City] Music Series?

Continuing the Levitt AMP Trenton Music Series is critical component of the city's efforts for economic revival. The media continues to hype the city as a dangerous place and you should stay away. Many parts of the city have significant crime but the downtown area is safe and has been hurt by the continuous media negativity. Levitt AMP provides a platform for the city to attract visitors back into the city and an entertainment venue for all city residents and business owners to come together. The city is just starting to see positive economic activity begin and we need to continue to bring visitors back into the city to support that activity. Music is a strong economic engine and community builder. Trenton was once a city full of music and it is our intention to use music as a vehicle to support the revival of the city. As we all know it is very expensive to create a music series and a significant number of residents can not afford to purchase tickets to a musical event. The Levitt AMP Trenton Concert Series does not have to sell tickets to survive. It provides the opportunity to present a variety of entertainers who appeal to many different demographics in the city. Levitt AMP Trenton has just gotten started by already establishing itself as a valuable tool in helping our State Capital return to its "Glory Days."

Describe the site where the free concerts will be held. Explain how the Levitt AMP [Your City] Music Series will play a role in enlivening the selected public space and surrounding areas.

The location that is used for the Levitt AMP Trenton Music Concert is called the Capital Green. What was once a parking lot is now a large open space located behind the State Capital building. It is basically an open field that someday will be developed into a park. Right now it is rarely used and is perfectly located in the center of the city. The Levitt AMP Trenton Music Series has demonstrated how activating the space is attractive to the community. There is parking close by but the majority of our concert attendees actually walk to the shows. This will be the third year we have used the space. It does meet all Levitt AMP requirements of an outdoor lawn like setting with no fixed seating. The site has incredible potential to be a pivotal part in the revitalization of downtown Trenton.
